The drive on enforcement of 194V
45 motor vehicle license registration
will begin on December 1st, accord-
out new licenses, said Mr. William
son. Although there was no last-min
ute rush during October, a consider
able amount of work was entailed by
the numerous transfers requested.
The license plate now being issued
is the first original plate used in
three years. In 1941-42 two license

ing to J. S. Williamson, chief high-j plates were required, one on the
way commissioner.
Approximately 250,000 licenses
have been issued to date through the
highway department.
The motor vehicle division has just
about completed the work of getting
front and one on the rear. The next
year a reprocessed plate was issued
to motorists, with only one required,
to be displayed on the rear. In 1943-
44, a strip* revalidating the single
license required the year before was

On December 1, 1944, any driver
of a motor vehicle ’carrying an ex
pired South Carolina license tag will
be subject to arrest by state highway
patrolmen.
