TO THE VOTERS AND CITIZENS
OF LAURENS COUNTY:
As a candidate for the House of Representatives
from Laurens County in an election to be held on June
26th next, I submit the following as my qualifications
and experience:
I served as a member of the House of Representa
tives from Laurens County in 1913 and 1914, and the
extra session, and served on the Ways and Means com
mittee. From 1916 through 1936 I served as Solicitor of
the 8th circuit. A part of my duties as Solicitor was to
attend all sessions of the General Assembly and prepare
all bills and resolutions for its members, and also to give
the final approval for all Acts to be signed by the Gover
nor. This work covered twenty years and also every
county in the state. To properly perform this work it is
necessary to know the rules of the House and Senate.
Since my voluntary retirement as Solicitor, I have served
as Special Circuit Judge in the counties of Spartanburg,
Cherokee, Sumter, Georgetown and Greenwood.
I believe I have had the experience and know I have
a sincere desire to serve as one of your members.
