OF CLINTON, S. C., IN COUNCIL
ASSEMBLED:—
Section L That the following an
nual and specific licenses, on busi
nesses, occupations and professions
to be paid by thejperson, or persons,!
firms or corporatons carrying on or'
engaged in such businesses, occupa
tions or professions, whether resi- j
dents of the Town of Clinton or not,'
shall be leved and collected for the
year beginning January 1, 1942, and
ending December 31, 1942, to wit:
praisal shall be made by not
more than three persons to
be selected by the Town
Clerk, and the security shall
not be more than the license
would be based upon total
sales equivalent in amount
to double the appraisal.
Provided, that upon com
pletion Of 4he sales the
amount deposited as security
.shall be applied by the Town
Cerk in the payment of the
license and any balance then
remaining shall be refunded
to the licensee.

at any time ^uring the sale,
the gross amount of sales
shall reach an amount that
will require a license here
under in excess of the
amount deposited as security
for the license, it shall be
the duty of the licensee and
all agents and employees
thereof to report such fact
forthwith' to the Town Clerk
and to make a new deposit,
and a failure to do so shall
constitute a violation of the
ordinance, and the license
previously issued shall be
revoked automatically with
out any action or notice
from any officer or agent of
the Town, and the offender
or offenders shall suffer the
penaltes provided in this or
dinance for violation there-'
of; and the Town ‘Clerk, or
Chief of Police, or other of
ficer or agent of the Town,
shall have the right at all
times to make an investiga
tion of the business of the
licensee to determine the
facts with reference to the
license and shall have the
righ|t to require sworn state
ments from the licensee and
his employees or agents as
to any matter relating to
the provisions of this ordi
nance and any icensee or
any agent or empoyee of
suchl icensee who shall fail
to furnish any such nforma-
tion or to give any sworn
statement upon proper re
quest or who shall make a
fase statement with refer
ence thereto shall be a vio
lation of this ordinance and
the offender or offenders
shall suffer the penalties
provided for those who do
business in the Town with
out a license, or violate the
terms of this ordinance.
