who writes under the pen name of
Nancy Telfair, has received honor
able mention in the national one-act
play annually staged by Webster
Groves of near St. Ix)uis, for her
play, “The Silver Bullett.” The play
was awarded first prize in the Town
Theater contest in 1939.

“spend-the-day” party. Honor guest
was Mrs. Rumi^’s aunt, Bilrs. J. B.

In the American Legion-sponsored
horse show held in connection with
the Newberry county fair on Thurs
day night, winner of first prize in
the children’s horseman^p was
Clinton’s ROBBIE KING, riding
Black Magic. Miss King received' a
cash award of $12.50.
On reaching home that ni^t, he

knowing that Mx. Reeves had been

MISS VIRGINIA DILLARD, of
this city, a junior at Coker college,
was one of the more than 40 Coker
students of dancing vdio presaited
a Dance Revue vmder the auspices
of the college athletic association in
the Coker dining room Saturday eve
ning. Miss Dillard was one of the
star performers in the review, “Mag
azine Rack,’’ which represented in
dance routine several popular Ameri
can magazines.
