Moorhead resigned his pastorate at Lydia Baptist fehurch Sunday night to accept a position as chaplain in the U. S. army. For the past sixteen mtmths he has been in the community and both he and Mn. Moorhead have made many friends. Before coming to Clinton Rev. Moor head was pastor of Columbia churdi in Greenville county. He, will attend revivals in Texas and Columbia be fore entering service about Sept 1. Greenwood, July 30. — The Rev. John W. Speake, DD., former presi dent of Lander college here, died yesterday (Wednesday) at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Craig Russell, at Aiken. He was 67 years old. Dr. Speake retired fitxn the presi dency of Lander last June because of illness. He was succeeded by the Rev. John Marvin Rast DJ). A native of Newberry county. Dr. Speake served a number of Metho dist pastorates in South Carolina be fore his election as head of Lander. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Anna Heidtman Speake, formerly of Charleston, and the following chil dren: Mrs. Russell, Mrs. Alexander Homer, New York, Mrs. Frank Crymes, Chicago, and Dr. John W.
