First committee tonight demanded
the removal from office of Secretary
of Navy Frank Knox for his “out
right advocacy of undeclared war.”
General Robert E. Wood, national
committee ohainnan, announced ap
proval of the request by 118 de^
gates from “key chapters’ at a spe
cial meeting In Chicago.
The resolution charged that Knox
“h^ advocated that the American
riavy intervene in Hije present war
now,” which, the committee said,
would subvert the constitutional pro
vision that “congress has the sole
power to dwlare war.”
