Lenten Observance
St John's Church
Announces Special
Services for Season.
The pastor and members of St.
John’s Lutheran church began their
observance of the Lenten season with
vesper serricefe last night. The ob
servance has been* a time honored
practice among Christians since the
earliest centuries of the Christian
era, and churches throughout the
world, in spite of all the rava^fes of
war and the chaotic and confused
conditions of life, will commemor
ate the passion and suffering of Je
sus Christ during these Lenten days.
The pastor. Rev. LeGrande Mayer,
announces four series of sermons to
be delivered in his church during
this season. The first in the series

Mr. and Mrs. Ton R. Holland were
called last week to Winston-Salem,
N. C., on account of the illness of
their daughter. Miss Ruth Holland.
