No. 1 Danger Season
If you want a truly merry Christ
mas be sure that the frivolity of the
season doesn’t turn it into tragedy.
The National Safety council points
out' that the holidays are the most
dangerous part of the year, replete
with auto casualties, home accidents,
bums and falls. Keep these “dont’s”
in mind and you’ll live to see the
new year: ^
DON’T give children dangerous
toys, or toys with sharp points. If
they operate with electricity, be sure
I you supervise their use.
j DONT decorate the tree with
'lighted candles unless it’s absolutely
' unavoidable.* Carefully wired electric
bulbs are much safer.
DON’T place the tree near a stove
or fireplace.
DONT LEAVE a lighted tree un
guarded at any iimej you must be
on the lookout for fires.
DONT use a rickety unsafe ladder
in decorating the tree.
DONT place ^ Christmas candles
near the tree, curtains, paper wreaths
or other decorations.
DONT overlook the opportunity to
make your tree fire-resistant. Ac
cording to the United States forestry
service, you can do it this way: Di
vide the wei^t of your tree by four
and buy that many pounds of am-
m<mium sulphate. Dissolve it in wa-
t«r, one and a half pints to each
pound of ammonium sulphate. Cut

Take Closing Game Of
Season From Petrels,
20 to 6.
Atlanta, Nov. 29. — Cashing in on
opportunities, the Presbyterian col
lege Blue Stockings defeated Ogle-
thpn)e’s Stormy Petrels, 20 to 6, Fri
day before a small crowd at Her-
mance stadium.
Presbyterian’s victory was the sixth
straight for Coach Walter Johnson’s
South Carolinians after they had
dropped their first four games. ’The
game closed a disastrous campaign
for the under-manned Oglethorpe
team, seven of whose small quad fin
ished their collegiate football careers.
The Blue Stockings took the, lead
in the first two minutes of play
when center Ratteree hauled in an
[ttempted Petrel "strove! pass and
traveled 52 yards to a touchdown
without a hand being laid on him.
Oglethorpe managed to prevent a
shutout by scoring midway of the
last quarter. The Petrels racked up
five first downs to two for the Blue
Stockings.
Early in the second period Presby
terian counted its second touchdown
as the result of a punt by Angie
Farrar being partially blocked and|
going out on the Oglethorpe 38. Tv/o;
line plays and a 15-yard penalty put;
the ball at the Petrel 15. After a
penalty against Presbyterian, Cole-,
man skirted end for 18. On fourth'
down,, Mitchell shot a touchdown'
pass to Sutton in the end zone and I
Coleman placekicked the extra point.
The Blue Stockings counted again
early in the last period when Church
intercepted a desperate Oglethorpe
pass at the Petrer22 and raced back
to Oglethorpe’s two. Church bored
through for the score on the first
play and Sutton placekicked the ex
tra point.
