Dies In Columbia
Funeral Services Held

George T. Barnes, Sr., 75, of Co
lumbia. lather of Mrs, Clarence E.
Calloway of this city, died Monday

The funeral services were held

from the Galloway home with Rev.
\V. .\. Long, pastor of the First Bap
tist church, in charge. Interment fol-

aervices were attended by a number
cf friends from here. Columbia and
flstwhere. with many lovely flowers
banked upon the grave indicative of
the esteem and high regard in whjch |
he was held by those who knew him. ^
Mr. Barns was a native of'Tennes- |
see. but had been a resident of this >
f>tate for the past 14 years. He was a|
member of the First Christian church j
cf Montgomery, Ala., a member ofj
the Masonic fraternity, and an active |
member iff the American Legion. For i
the period 1924-29 he was secretary'
cf the Greenwood Chamber of Com- (
mtree. P rom Greenwood he moved |
to Columbia where for some time he i
v.as actively connected with a radio'
broadcasting station there. Highly re- i
gc rdeci 'as a citizen and friend, his ■
death brings genuine regret to those}
who knew and admired him. i
