Friends of REV. WILLIAM M.
ELAKELY. son of Mrs. R. F. Blake
ly of this city, will be interested to
k.now he and Mrs. Blakely are mov
ing this week from Doraville, Ga.,
where they have resided the past
several years, to Fort Bragg, N. C.
Mi. Blakely is a chaplain with the
rank of first lieutenant in the army.
Mr. and Mrs. Blakely spent the
week-end here with his mother, and
Mr. Blakely occupied the pulpit of
the As.sociate Reformed Presbyterian
church Sunday morning. They left
Monday for Sumter where they will
fpend several days with relatives be
fore going to Fort Bragg.
With Christmas so near, we think;
we should pass along an old saying
which we heard for the first time the
ether day for the benefit of all the
young ladies; "Don't wrap the boy
friend's present in red. If, you do, |
you will lose him.” Information has'
reached us that there is one fair I
lassie who will testify to the truth of i
this warning. It seems that she learn
ed the hard way—by-trying it last^
Christmas. i
Both individual citizens and or
ganizations of Clinton have taken an
active interest in charities and a re
markable response has been noted to ■
various phases of relief work. The
sale of tuberculosis .seals, bonds and
bangles is being sponsored by the.
Lions club auxiliary, with Mrs. R. S.'
Owens as general chairman. Clinton’s:
quota is S500 and every effort is be
ing made to raise this amount. Com- .
-mittee chairmen and members ex-,
press their appreciation to individ
uals and organization who have pur
chased. bonds and seaLs. Bonds are
$5.00 and hp. Mrs. George R. Blalock
is chairman of the bond committee.!
Mr.-;, JohnGentry is chairman of
the school tftmmittee, assisted by the!
following helpers; Mrs. James Addi-!
son. Goldville school; Mrs. Roy Gas-

Roy Pitts, high school; Mrs. D. 0.1
Rhame. Jr., Academy street school.!
All children are urged to buy and
w'ear bangles, the official tuberculo-'

been planned at each .school to stim-|
ulate interest in the cause, and edu- j
cate the students in the dangers anS*
prevention of the disea.se. The cub;
scouts will sell bangles Friday after- i
noon at the Christmas parade. Stu-
•dents at the college are also copper-
aling in the sale of seals. Those to!
whom seals have been mailed are
urged by the committee in charge toj
make returns as soon as possible.
