That improved scho(d facilities is
Clinton’s greatest need was indicated
in a siurvey made at a recent meet
ing of the Lions c\ub, wboi members
were polled on the subject. Of a
total of twenty “things ClinUm needs
most’’ stiggested, diat led the list.
Pushing improved school facilities
for first place was a swimming pool,
the hot weather Of the past wedc or
two no doubt having a bearing on
this selection. Followiog in order
were a city hall and a hew bank.
The selecticms w^e made entirely
without suggestions. Members were
given slips of paper and requested
to write on than “two or three
things Clinton needs.”
Ranking high in the voting for
needs of the city were new indus
tries, a cxirb market, better commu
nity spirit, and rest rooms for white
and color^.
A recreation center and park poll
ed a good many votes, as did a new
hotel.'Other suggestions were an au
ditorium, a creamery, an incinerator,
and “mdi^ courage and initiative by
young men.”
A bit of humor was added when
“more good-looking women” and
“|wo or three good fimerals” were
suggested as needs of the city.
Hitler 3eeldng
To Move HttlKoM
Bucharest, Aug. 3. — Transfer of
1,000,000 to 2,000,5oo persons to the
countries of their ancestry is Adolf
Hitler’s plan for disposing of Ru-
manian-Hungarian territorial prob
lems regardless of how much land
Rumania ultimately cedes, German
diplomatic circles said today.
Under this scheme, all Hungarians
in Rumania would be returned to
Hungary; all Germans in any ceded
* territory of the disputed province
of Transylvania would be ronoved
to the Reich, and all Rumanians in
such areas as well as present Hun
gary would be transplanted into Ru
mania.
According to latest estimates, there
are 1,400,000 Hungarians in all Ru
mania; 500,000 Germans in Transyl
vania, which Rumknia gained from
Hungary in the World war settle
ment, and 100,000 Rumanians in
Hungary.
