MISS PEARL HITT, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Hitt of this
city, who is a member of the gram
mar school faculty of Lake City and
publicity chairman of the Tuesday
Literary club, has received word
fr(Xn Grace Allen Bangs, director of
the service bureau of the New York
Herald Tribune, that she has won
first place for the South Carolina
Federated clubs.
The contest is sponsored yearly
and there were 57 entrants, publicity
members of the various clubs, who
sent in stories of their organization’s
outstanding feat of the year. Miss
Hitt wrote about the work for the
crippled children’s home in Florence
county and her 200 word story was
judged the most interesting and best
written. This paper was awarded
a blue ribbon and will be entered
in (the national contest where it has
a chance to win a cash prize and
national honor and distinction. She
entitled the prize winning paper
‘.‘That They Might Walk.”
