INSPECTION OF PRIVATE CARS
BEGINS MONDAY IN CLINTON
State Highway Department Inspection Station To Be Set Up
Here For 11 Days. Cars and Trucks Musi Be
Inspected Under Provisions of Law.
Inspection of automobiles and trucks will begin in Clinton
next Monday, April 16, and continue through the 26th, it is
announced by the state highway department. The inspection
will be in charge of John K. Bradley, supervisor of highway
department inspection station No. 11, which will be set up
here for the designated period.
The mobile testing lane will be open evwy day from 8 to 5
o’clock, except on Saturday, when the hours are from 8 to 1
o’clock, Bradley said, adding that private passenger cars are
to be inspected only as to brakes, lights, steering apparatus
and horn. Several other items about trucks and commercial
vehicles are checked, he said.
All motor vehicles are now required by law to be inspected
and secure approval certificates, Bradley declared,'pointing
out that the requirements have been changed from the old
law which included only trucks, trailers and other commercial
vehicles.
The supervisor urged that all owners have their vehicles
prepared for the inspection before bringing them to the test
ing lane. He suggested that by having a competent mechanic
go over the vehicle thoroughly and correct its obvious faults
before it is inspected, much time can be saved and the neces
sity of waiting in line largely eliminated.
Those cars already bearing the red, white and blue “sec
ond period certificates’’ are_not require to pass inspection
again until after May 1, Bradley said, adding that the inspec
tion periods are arranged to correspond with the autmnobile
license year.
. the station is prepared to inspeot over 500 ve
hicles a day,” Bradley said, “it should be emphasized that the
wise operator will bring his car or truck to the lane as early
. as possible in order to avoid a possible rush during the last
days that the lane will be here.”
In addition to Supei visor Bradley," the station personnel
includes Inspectors J. R. Booth, G. Bt Glaze, F. L. Quattle-
baum, J. L. Settle and J M.
ooth, G. BL Glaze, F. L.
Sturgeon.
