Other facts disclosed by Mr. Simp son’s report were; ^ Estimated value of property in the county, $25,721,640. Assessed value for taxation, $8,- 673,880. Tax levy for 1936 with polls and 1‘oad tax included, $423,368. Taxes which went into'execution that year, $58,949. Cash balance at end of the year, $429,250. Bonds sold during the year, $214,- 000. State and county levy, 31 mills; average of school levies, .134 milLs. The net debt was arrived at by taking the gross bonded and note debt and deducting'therefrom allowances for highway reimbursement bonds, sinking fund on hand and funds re served for serial bonds and coupons. The gross debt of the county was shown as $899,100 and deductions, $102,000 for highway reimbursement, $126,148.35 for sinking fund and $181,675.77 for funds reserved for serial bonds and cou|>ons. The gross debt of the .school dis tricts was given as $419,.550, with $30,051.05 in the sinking fund and $‘36.9.56..53 re.served for serial bonds and coupons. Income for the year, exclusive of funds derived from bond issues ahd borrowed money, included $364,418.80 from current taxes, $65,877.55 from <lelin<iuent taxes, $34,745.56 from gas taxes, $49,.720.52 from highway .reim- bur.semonts, $122,972.00 from state aid for schools and $77,193.83 from miscellaneous sources both county and ■ichoo!. Copeland. "Uncle Harrison,” al though nearly 80 years old, was the “youngest” one there, rejoicing over the unexi>ected visit ^ the widow of his son, John Copeland, and four chil dren, Charlene, Edwin, Ishmael and Roland Copeland, and a close friend, Robert McDowell, all off Nashville, Arkansas. The well-known and be- lovedT “Uncle Harrison” is a life-long resident of the Hurricane community and a deacon in the Hurricane Bap tist church for many years. After several hours of happy re union, the group was invited to the green pasture by the "overflowing w’ell” where bountifully filled baskets of delicious food were opened and spread on the long table before 84 hearty-eating true Copeland descend ants.
