AHv around me, .wherever I go and
whomever I talk with, I find signs
of a d^p and perious revival of in
terest in teligion. There was a whiles
for a few, yhar* after the World war,
when as if the people of
America, and of the rest of the world,
had almost abandoned their religious
beliefs. That phase is passing, and
men and women, young and old, are
returning to the rcaliza^on that there
is no salvation for themnelves or for
the world in its trouWo^ .through
anything mankind )caji do'\y itself,
without divine guidance.

four or five different groups of

to find workable solutions for thfe
economic problems of/the nation. Ev
ery timVsomeone has brought up the
suggestion that the only answer lies
in relig^o^n^ there has been general
agreement. \
General acc^tance of religion as
the ruling force In human affairs* will
put an end to sel^h nationalism and
the motives which lead to war. And
nothing else will do it.
JEWS — Brotherhood
The fundamentals of all^ religious
creeds are identical. They\ar/j the
Fatherhood of God and the Brother
hood of Manl-Those elements are at
the root not only of Christianit^ but
of Buddhism, Mohammedanism dpd
of Judaism. We are prone to forget
that all of the religious faiths, sects
and creeds of the Western world have
their common root in the Old Testa
ment, the book of the Jewish people
and their religion.
A great theatrical spectacle has
just been produced in New York, de
picting in action and music the his
tory of the Jews and their religious
aspirations. “The Eternal Road” is,
in efft'ct, a dramitization of the first
five l>ooks of the Bible. It is in the
chronicle of go<Kl men and good wo
men—.Abraham, Ma.ses, Jacob, Rachel
and Ruth—whose characters are re
vered Ipy Christians no less than by
Jews.
I know of nothing w'hich so clearly
reveals the bTOtherhood of all people
as <l(»t's the realization that Christian
and Jew alike have a common heri
tage of religiou.s tradition and princi
ples.

Trpop No.. 42, Boy Scouts of

Clinton Cotton Mills during the past
week. The new troop, which will be
the second in Clinton, is headed by
G. G. “Red” Hooper as scoutmaster,
L. B. Tinsley, assistant scoutmaster,
and Harold Crow, scribe. The organ!-,
zation consists of fifteen boys of the
Clinton mills village who have al
ready obtained full dress uniforms
and are ready to enter upon their ac
tivities. Announcement has been made
that several ^res in the city...^will

day in their places of business, the
lads to use what they a're paid for
their services, in buying equipment.

RESIGNS A^GOLDVILLE
J. V. DuBose has resigned his posi
tion as principal Of the Joanna high
school at Goldville, to accept a simi
lar high school position in Dillon. He
left Saturday for his new work and
before his departure was honored by
the JoannA teachers with a farewell
party at the Joanna Inn on Friday
evening at which time he was pre
sented with a number of Useful^ gifts
