No. 847, provided for the creation of a new board for the district, fixing their terms of osj[- ^ice, prescribing their powers, and providing for the election and selec tion nf teachers for the year 1935-36. Trust^ as named in this Act by Sen ator Nance^are: Dr. S. C. Hays, Hor ace Payne, J^xF. Jacobs, W. C. Oxley and S. W. Sumeml, the latter being the _only jnember of the present" board, Both bills passed* the senate and went to the house, where they received their first reading on Tuesday. Yester day on second reading Representative Huff raised objection to the firstx^bill and offered an amendment to the sbe^ ond bill which struck out all of Sec tion 1 designating the names of a new board to be inducted into office and proposed a*^ primary to be held in the district on the second Tuesday in June, 1935, for the purpose of selecting five trustees for said .school district. Act to CreaU a Hunter School in Laurens County and fco Name and Fix the Number of Trustees and Terra of Office and Prescribe Their Powers, Duties and Authority, and to Provide Manner and Method of Selecting, Trustees and Filling- Vacancies,” known as Act No. 40 of the Acts of 1933, be, and the same is herebyRe pealed. The Huff amendment follows: Amend by striking out all of Sec tion 1 of said bill, and by substituting in lieu thereof the following: " “Section 1. That the county chair man of the Democratic party of Lau rens county is hereby authorized and directed to call a preferential primary election to be held in Hunter School District Number Five (5) Laurens County, to be held on the second Tuesday ‘in June, 1935, between the hours of 9 A. M. and 4 P. M., after due advertisement for the. purpose of electing and .selecting five trustees for said school district. The publishing of this Act in a county newspaper or in a newspaper which is circulated ex tensively in Laurens County, prefer ably The Clinton Chronicle, at least one week prior to said election shall be deemed due advertisement. Three voting precincts are hereby establish ed for the purposes of this Act, to wit: one at the Town Hall at Clinton, one at Lydia Mills and one at Clinton Mills, In said school district, in Lau rens County, and all persons whose names are now _ium)Bed upon* the Democratic club rolls of Laurens County as were used in the primary S elections of 1934 and who still reside B jin said school district shall be entitled P to vote in»said election.
