The President, in his radio address the other evening,
said in a few words, by way of comparison, more than
many a learned man has said in many hours.
__ He stated that he was reminded of what was said at
the burial of a former president of the United States,
one Andrew Jackson, better known as “Old Hickory.”
Some one in the crowd asked if “Old Hickory” would ro
to heaven, and a listener was quick to reply that he
would if he wanted to. *
And so it is with the the great American people .. . .
they, too, have a way of accomplishing their desires,
and...
THEY WILL HAVE RECOVERY AND
PROSPERin IF THEY WANT TO
In our loyaltyjn su pport of the appeal of President
Roosevelt, we wish to assure the public that there will
be no let-down in our service to the public or in any other
matter that affects the interest of the public.
The President’s appeal for the nationwide movement
is based on two broad grounds. One is the immediate
objective of substantial unemployment relief and the
other is, that this program, if carried out successfully,
will bring ip a permanent sense, a greater measure of
prosperity in this country than it has ever enjoyed.
We have the utmost faith in President Roosevelt and
the National Recovery Act and will co-operate w ith him
and his agencies to the limit in seeing the prograni suc
cessfully carried through.
