Helen Chalmers and Virgil Abrams,
which was solemnized at the Associ
ate Reformed Presbyterian parsonage
in Newberry, by the Rev. J. W. Car-
vV>n, on July 21 st.
Only a few relatives and friends of
the young couple were present. Im
mediately after the ceremony, .Mr.
and Mrs. Abrams left for a short wed
ding trip to Asheville and other points *
in western North Carolina.
They are occupying an apartment

invited to the dining room where the
shower presents were neatly arranged
on the table. An all-over lace cover
was used on the table; a center bowl
of Queen Ann’s lace and fern and tall
white tapers in mahogany holders
added a note of charm. The packages
when opened revealed many handsome
gifts which attested to the popularity
of the bride.
Besides Mr. Williams, who catnitfift
for refreshments, the out-of-town

Dr. Austin graduated from an At
lanta medical college in 1886. He first
practiced at Coronaca, after which he
came to Clinton and continued the
practice of his profession for twenty
years. Six years ago, after his retire
ment, he went to Darlington where he
had made his home with his daughter.
He was an upright Christian gentle
man, possessing many noble traits of
character that made and held friends
for him throughout his entire life.

the summer in study and travel.
