On E'riday eveninp: the Intermediate
Christian Endeavor hoys, under the
direction of Mrs. C. M. Bailey, enjoy
ed an attractive Hallowe’en entertain
ment at the First Presbyterian
church. Many forms of amusement
w'ere provided by Mrs. Bailey and
Mrs. M. J. McFadden. Fruits were
served.
INSPECTION MEETING
FOR EASTERN STARS
The local chapter. Order of Eastern
Star, will hold an inspection meeting
Friday night at 7:30 in the Masonic
hall. Several state officers will be
present, including: M’orthy Grand
Matron Sarah E. Hill of Greenville,
Worthy Grand Patron P. T. Haw’kins
of Spartanbu-rg, and District Deputy-
Grand Matron Mrs. Pearl Moody
Monroe of I.aurens. There will also
be representatives from other chap
ters in the district. A full attendance
of members is urged.
LECTURE SERIES UNDER
AUSPICES OF D. A. R.
The D. .A. R. chapter i.s launching

ingion’s birth
The first lecture of the series will
be delivertnl at the Florida Street
school auditorium on November 2nd,
at four o’clock, by Dr. Dudley .Tones.
The public is cordially invited. The
subject of this lecture will be: "The
Family Relations and Homes ^ of
George Washington.”

The selections rendered were: "By
the Waters of Minnetonka,” by Lieu-
rance, and “To a M’ild Rose,” by Mc
Dowell. Mrs. S. P. Bowles played the
accompaniments and also rendered a
piano solo, "liCnto,” by Cyril Scott.
"The Lfltle Italian’s Flag” and
“Unw-elcome and AVelcome Guests,”
were Miss Brownings readings.
Patrons and teachers enjo.ved this
delightful program. Sandwiches, cook
ies and punch were served by several
high sc-hool girls.
