! and 337 opposed to it. In spite of re
peated efforts to get the result of the
entire county The C'hronicle was un-1
able to do so. The twenty boxes re
ported easily assure the election was
carried by a .safe margin in spite of
jthe unusually light vote, many of the
I smaller precincts showing no interest
whatsoever.

I ' The strongest sentiment in favor of
I the hospital was in the city of I..au-
' tens where it received an almost solid
+ endorsement the vote standing, 312
lyes, and 11 no. The Watts mill vote
I was 38 yes, 9 no; Laurens mill, 67 yes,
; 7 no; ('ross Hill, 2 yes, 34 no. The
i Clinton city box was strong against'
j the issue, the vote l>€ing, 6 yes, 142
i no. These boxes were the largest re-!
ipoited and their tabulations decide<l |
I the outcome of the referendum. Other
