Just a Few Hours To Get the
Votes!
Rushing through the last hours of a furious race for suprem
acy while time is ticking off the precious minutes, members of
the Salesmanship Club in which a $2,000 prize list will be dis
tributed after Saturday night, will shortly wind up the greatest
newspaper campaign in the history of this section of South Caro
lina. Into every home of this section has spread the news that
the “golden horn of plenty” is about to be tipped over and the
hurry and scramble to come under its beneficense is precipitating
a veritable storm of votes.
Topping the list of rich prizes is a wonderful Nash Sedan, val
ued at $1166Ynd as second grand prize, a Ford Touring Car, val
ued at $447.00 is offered. These prizes have won the admiration
of thonsands of people. ~
Surprises in vote gains ar$ being sprung by members all over
the field. Already the mails are swelling with the volume of
votes and subscriptions that are being sent in on the final report,
but the height of this remarkable battle will be attained Saturday
night, ending one grand final spurt, when the call of “time” is
shouted. *
CANDIDATES ARE WORKING
•
“Work without rest” is the portion the memlters have picked
out for themselves during the last few days, for the extreme un
certainty of just how many votes each member may have makes
it urgent that everything possible be done to make sure of vic
tory. Predictions are, of course, being made, but the ultimate
outcome is something no human being can forecast. Certain it
is, though, that two of the members will be proud owners of the
two best prizes. Others will be the happy recipients of the other
prizes and still others will win cash commissions.
FINAL BIG SPURT
• *
Everything in the campaign territory pertaining to the Sales
manship Club is in orderly turmoil. Excitement has become fe
verish and members are working like beavers to make their ef
forts count. From the outside districts advice was received late
last night to the effect that entire populations were strong be
hind their favorites, grimly determined that their favorites shall
emerge from the campaign flushed with victory.
%
Some of the members far down in the list have seen their op-
. portunity and are taking advantage of it: “There’s many a slip
’twixt.cup and lip,” and likewise, mapy a slip is possible before
the close of the campaign. A member who rests now after mak
ing a good showing thus far is going to be passed by some other
candidate.who has been busily taking advantage of the final vote
schedule this week.
