A. R. The D. A. R. held an interesting meeting on Friday afternoon. The hostesses were Mesdames J. F. Jacobs, Sr., J. F. Jacobs, Jr., W. D. Copeland, W. H. Shands and James R. Copeland. There were four delegates who at tended the state convention in Dillon: Miss Clara Duckett, Mesdames Maggie Hays, W. J. Bailey and J. M. Pitts. Mrs. W. J. Bailey gave a report of the business and Mrs. J. M. Pitts of the social features. After the business of the afternoon Mrs. W. J. Bailey led the literary program and gave an in teresting sketch of “Lady Astor.” She also gave readings from “‘My Miss Nancy.” The following enjoyed the n eeting: Mesdames P. S. Bailey, W. Miss Long is a graduate of the Pea body Conservatory of Music in Balti more and a pupil of George F. Boyle of Philadelphia. She now has her studio in Chester. Mr. Starkweather, since his gradua tion from Massachusetts Institute of ing teacher of History In the high school, and Mr. Gibson holding the position of principal and science pro fessor. Wright was a gracious hostess to the Actaeah Club. Lovely yellow and white chrysanthemums graced the liv ing room and the hostess, assisted by Miss Sallie Wright and Mrs. R. Z. Wright, Jr M served a tempting salad course and hot tea. Mrs. Wright’s guests included: Mesdames E. J. Adair, E. W. Ferguson, T. D. Cope land, F. C. Pinson, A. B. Galloway, Edward Long, B. H. Boyd. J. Will Dil- lard, Jodie Chandler, Frink Kellers, Miss Maude Sumerel of this city. Miss Suemerel then rendered Mendelsshon’s Wedding March. There were no at tendants, the couple descending the stairs just inside the living room door where ferns had been banked with white chrysanthemums, the door form ing a colonade effect with white back ground, traced with ivy and aspara gus fern ,and bows of tulle with doves in flying effect used. Here the bride’s pastor, Dr. D. J. Woods, performed, using the impress ive ring ceremony. Academy Street School Honor Roll Love” was softly played during the ceremony. The bride was radiantly lovely in a gown of Graeco Head blue with ac cessories to match and wearing a pic ture hat of gold lace, and carrying a shower bouquet of brides ros$s and swansonia. The bride then donned a traveling suit and immediately the couple left for a short wedding trip, after which they will make their .home m Inman. Mrs. Gibson is the attractive daugh ter of Mrs. John Henry Hipp, and numbers her friends by the score, hav ing an unusually attractive personal ity. She is a graduate of the Pres byterian College of South Carolina and has been a successful teacher for a number of years. ' ' _ Mr. Gibscn is the son of Mr .and Mrs. S. B. Gibson of Manning, and is a young man of sterling character and his marriage will be ef interest to his many friends throughout the state. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and is also a teacher. Mr. and Mrs. Gibson are both at present teaching in f the Inman school, Spartanburg county,..
