Gentlemen Raffles and Queen Anne’s
Lace
On country roads grow every place,
Qaeen Anne’s Lace is a dainty flower
Fit to grace a queen’s own bower,
Of many delicate blossoms made,
And mounted on a stem of jade,
Under the moon’s enchanted light
Venetian points of dreamy white.
Made by an elfin lacemaker
Beneath a berried juniper, >
guests were included: Misses
Louise Dow, Grace Young, Emfnie
Pitta, Lillian ♦ Barrow, Mary Henry,
NSimell Blalock, Annie B. Adair; John
Holt, fc*aul Burroughs, Billy Blalock,
George Blalock, Ranks .and Graham
Hayes, Duckett Young and David
Blakely. A dainty sweet course was
served.

Gentlemen’s Ruffles arp always nigh,
As they were in a wonderful Spring

When Anne O'Malley, the May Day

Led the dance on the village green.
While the young squire watched, from
the rest apart, /
With ardent eyes and a leaping heart;
The gay young squire, in a velvet

And filmy ruffles at wrist and throat
And a diamond ring, and a horse to

And a sword to swing at his gallant

Those were the daya^f high romance!
Anne coquettishly caught his glance,
Waived a handkerchief fairy size,
Tossed her ringlets and veiled her
eyes,
Twirled on tiptoe and flashed a
smile— '
And met him later beside the stile,
With the new moon shimmering to her

Which means more trouble, you know,

Anne O'Malloy returned no more
To her spinning wheel by the cottage
door,
The young squire’s steed was gone
from its stall,
And hr from his proud ancestral hall/
But the ruffle torn on a leafy thorn
And a kerchief of lace were found
next morn
Down in the mint beside the brook,
Along the path that the lovers took.

Strange flowers appeared in fiel(l and

And along the' road that wandered

Gentlemen’s Ruffles green and pink >

When he went a-hunting on frosty

Queen Anne’s Lace as rich and rare
As Brussels" that brides delight to
wear,
Grow and blow in the weedy grass
Nod and dance in the winds that pass.
So, wherever Queen Anne’s Lace you
see,
Gentlemen’s Ruffles are sure to be!

Nash Models
/II
j't
i.
By the hundreds of thousands American men
and women have thronged Nash snowrooms
from one end of the country to the other since
Announcement Day, Thursday, July 23.
i
\
\
And the nation-wide enthusiasm these new
Special Six and Advanced Six models have al
ready created has launched Nash on a new
year bound to eclipse by far the phenomenal
success of the past twelve months.
‘ft
Attendance has been so heavy that hundreds
have been prevehted from adequate inspection
of the nfew models so we are extending the
Special Introductory Exhibition for a period
of two weeks more.
