the Spartanburg road, on the outskirts
of this city, and a valuable tract on
the outskirts of Greer including a well
developed peach orchard.
The latter piece of property is now
one of ihe most valuable about Greer
and was the first .real- estate ever

Clemson college won thei state track
meet which was held here Saturday
afternoon on the Presbyterian College
athletic field. Clemson scored 60
points, and was closely pushed by Fur
man university ‘with 54 points. The
other scofes were as follows: Caro
lina, 20; Presbyterian college, 15, and
Citadel 9.
t was the first "official” state
meet ever held in South Carolina, it
f ia said, and was successful from every
’ standpoint. It was well attended by
friends of the various colleges partici
pating in the > contests.
Roy, of Clemson, established a new
Southern record, when he ran the 440
yard dash in 51 seconds. ‘
The Presbyterian college track was
in perfect condition. Visiting offi
cials, coaches and track men declared
it to be the best track in the entire
South. Weathqr conditions were ideal
for track events. ! Coach Walter A.
Johnson was in charge of affairs, and
everything went off in splendid shape.
’ -In the fresh hum- events the Presby
terian college was declared winner,
scoring 17 points. The other fresh
men scores were as follows: Carolina,
14; Clemson, 8* Furman, 4. Citadel
did nOt enter her freshmen. Coach
JMcMillian prepared the track for the
event and it was proclaimed by parti-^
cipants as -the best they had ever
trqtted in. \ ' •
