ter county has suffered much
pain and no little inconvenience
otherwise during the last week
as the result of severe inflammation
of the eyes.Mr.
and Mrs. J. T. Young are
expected to return this week from
Rochester, Minn., where Mrs.
Young hus been a patient at a
hospital for several weeks, dur*
ing which her condition is said
to have shown gratifying im*
provement.
Sales of cotton in Fort Mill
during the week ending last night
amounted to 250 bales, according
to a statement of J. B. Mills,
buyer. The recent advance in
the price of the staple to 20 cents
induced a number, of farmers to
sell most of the cotton they had
held off the market from last
year's crop.
Officials of the Fort Mill Farm
Loan association have announced
that applications for loans under
the federal farm loan act for a
limited amount will be received
for action und reference to the
Federal Lund bank of Columbia
before June G. An order suspending
consideration of applications
. fot loans was issued some months
ago.
Members of Eli Bailes post, No.
43, American Legion, a few days
ago sent out notices that a meeting
would be held in .the legion
club rooms this afternoon to organize

voting precinct for Fort Mill to
cure for the increased vote the
township is: expected to poll in
the primary for State and county
officers next August. With what
promises to be an exciting conterst
for governor?the race in
South Carolina . politics which
draws out the largest number of
voters?it is thought that- Fort
MiU will cast something like 800
votes. It is held that the necessity
of an additional precinct is
therefore apparent, since so large
a number of voters could not be
accommodated at one precinct.
Plans Big Celebration.
At n recent meeting of Eli Bailes
post, American Legion, of Fori
Mill plans were set 011 foot for
a big celebration locally this year
of theFourth of July. A
number of committees were appointed
to work out the details
of the celebration, which it is
_ proposed to make a county wide
affair. Features of the celebra*
tion will include a sham battle,
a' picnic at Spratt's spring and
public speaking. Brice D. Culp

yesterday said that the committees
are working hard to get
things in shape to make this one
of the biggest things Fort Mill
has ever seen. 4 4 The committees

known speakers and hope to get
