ago was showing some of his
friends an old Spanish coin he
picked up 011 his farm in the Belail
section of Lancaster county.
The coin is about the size of an
? American silver dollar and apparently"
is made pf silver and
nickel. It is well pl*eserved, but
the figures indicating the year in
which it was issued are indistinct,
leuving one to guess whether tin
"third figure is a 2 or a 9, making
the year either*1723 or 1793.

Five Charlotte negroes came to
grief us a result of speeding Sunday
afternoon in an automobile
on the concrete road between
Hock Hill and the Catawba river.
The negroes were overtaken by a
.Hock Hill oflicer after their car

and all were arrested near
