A number of Fort Mill people are
looking forward to receiving a fund
of Information relative to Conditions
in Armenia when N. A. Boyajian delivers
an address to the members of
the local Masonic lodge next Sunday
afternoon at 3 o'clock and again discusses
the same subject Sunday evening
at 7 o'clock at a union service
of the Fort Mill churches in the Baptist
church. Mr. Boyajian Is an Armenian
who has been in this country
for several years nd Is now field sec*c
tnry for South Croiina for Near
East Relief. During the last year a
considerable sum of money has gone
out of Fort Mill for the suffering

purpose of Mr. Boyajlan's visit here
In to emphasize the need of additional
funds from America unless his
countrymen are to be abandoned to
the further persecution of the Turks
and the pltlnble plight in which
many of them already are."
A Fort Mill citizen who spent
Tuesday in Columbln and circulated
freecly among members of the Legislature
returned home yesterday
morning In anything but a hopeful
frame of mind regarding the prospects
for a decrease in State taxes
this year. "1 made It a part of my
business." he said, "to ask several
members of the house and senate
what they thought would be done at
the present session of the Legislature
about taxation. Most of them
seemed to be anxious to reduce the
tax burdens, but there was more or
less general greement that if the application
of the State superintendent
for more than a million dbllar increase
in the appropriations for the
public schools was met, the levy for
next year could not be reduced. The
average member of the Legislature
semis to want to do something to
lighten the people's burde.ns; but
there uro others who seem to care
little about the complaint that has
been going up ull over the State
of oppressively high taxation. It Is
a pity that the people are not in betfor
position to keep tab on the attitude
on public questions of the men
they elect to the Legislature. If
the constituents of some of the members
knew how they vote in the Legislature
many of them would serve
one term only. Another thing 1
learned in Columbia is that Governor
Cooper is being gonerally charged
with much of the responsibility for
the tax burdens the people are eompluinlng
so bitterly against. There
has been a marked Increase In taxation
since he went Into office and
u was noi nnru rur me to conciuae
from what I heard that if he should
ever ask for office again he will have
a hard time being elected."

He was reared in this community
but many years ago moved to Chester,
where he resided until a few
