Oaffney.?As a result of a decision reached at a special meeting of the uBuuay cuy council it was definitely determined to pare those streets going to make up the principal avenue from the city proper to Limestone college. This decision has occasioned general and very genuine pleasure In Oaffney, because of the fact that the people of the city consider that this is no more than OafTney owes to the college. When the proposition relative to the paving was placed nefore council. Mayor Turner announced for that body that council was perfectly willing to undertake the paving, except for the fact that the city has no money on hand at this time to be allotted for snch purposes and the paving company had already refused to accept the city's notes for the amount. At this Juncture of the proceedings. D. C. Ross, president of the American State bank, and Maynard Smythe. president of the First National bank of Oaffney, ' announced that the banks are prepared to accept the city's notes for street paving, provided such notes could be Indorsed by a sufficient number of the cltisens at large of the city.
