the attractive places of the camp, especially
to all printers and men who
have been engaged in the printing

Camp Jackson army headquarters
has just issued a general order to all
soldiers prohibiting them from patronizing
restaurants, hotels, barber shops,
manicure parlors. Ice cream parlors or '
soda fountain establishments, unless
the same shall have the certificate of
Inspection.
These certificates of inspection will
he issued by a representative of the
United States Public Health Service,
only upon compliance with the rules
and regulations governing sanitary inspection
issued by the Public Health |
Service and shall be revocable at the
discretion of the issuing authority.
Commencing on Monday, September
16. Camp Jackson will begin one of the
Viost extensive athletic schedules ever
planned by any army camp or cantonment.
The schedule will continue indefinitely.
This plan of athletics for Camp
Jackson was mapped out by Frank M.
Dobson, camp physical director for
the Y. M. C. A. and the plan will include
the entire camp in the various
athletic schedules. I

task which confronts the conservation
and reclamation division of the

show that 250 pairs of shoes are worn
out each day by an array of 40,000
men. ThatJs the avernge of all of the
encampments and cantonments of the
United Slates, according to official
figures. Now shoes are classed among
the most necessary of the necessities. ,

Th men naturalized represented '
many States and various nationalities.
Some were formerly citizens of enemy
countries. The men who received the
lath have arrived at Camp Wadsworth
in the past two months and are
ill selectmen.
Red Spider Ravages.
Chester.?This section has been visited
by splendid rains, which will benefit
the late cotton and corn and will
lave the tendency to retard the burstng
of unmatured cotton bolls which
las been so much in evidence in this
jountry during the past week on account
of the hot weather. Farmers in
'rom the Fort Lawn section of the

avaged the cotton crop in that terriory
to some extent. The cotton crop
