Columbia.?John Meyer of New

Columbia, has been arrested by federal
government agents in New York
in the dragnet thrown out for German
spies. Meyer has been in jail since
March 16 and Sol-Savery, under the
guise of a Frenchman, is supposed to
be In France.
Sol-Savery spent a good portion of
the time in Columbia after the location
of the cantonment here, directing
the work of the Military Supply store

Had Much Data.
When arrested Meyer had a mass of
military transportation schedules, also
detailed data bb to troop movements,
and the available supply of railroad
cars. The number of men training at
the various cantonments was also
given. ^
The Sol-Saverys spoke French fluently
and Sol-Savery had certain papers
alleging service in the French
army during the early period of the
war. He also had papers purporting
to be dismissals from French military
hospitals and claimed to have been
wounded, exhibiting the scars. He
also brought to this country letters of
introduction from European bankers
to Secretary McAdoo and J. Pierpont
Morgan.
The young man In charge of the
company's store In Columbia said the
news dispatches were the first intimation
he had as to the entanglements
of the owners of the business. He
had recently resigned, but a few days
ago received a telegram asking that
he take care of the business until
Saturday.
The following is the account of the
apprehension of Meyer and Flei9s. appearing
the New York Tribune:
How the German spies spread a net
over the country and established receiving
stations for information of
military value near four of (he largest
army cantonments in the South was
revealed, when William Wallace, director
of the New York enemy alien
bureau, announced he had forwarded
recommendations to Attorney General

In line with the action of the city
