a meeting of the Fort j
Mill Democratic club has hcen
called for next Saturday afternoon
at 4:30 o'clock in the town
hall. The purpose of the meeting
is to effect a reorganization
of the ciub, name delegates to
the county convention on Monday,
May 1, and transact such
other business as may properly
come before the club. All
Democrats of the township are
requested to be present.

months' term last Friday and a

A Marriage of Interest.
A marriage of interest, as well
as a pleasant surprise, to the
many friends of the groom in
Fort Mill and the vicinity, was
that Thursday evening at 7 o'clock
of Mr. E. S. Parks of this
city and Miss Leanna Torrence

Df Mecklenburg county. The
marriage was performed by Presiding
Elder P. B. Wells, of the
Rock Hill circuit, at his home in
Rock Hill. The couple spent
the night of Thursday in the
home of the groom's sister. Mrs.

As to County Indebtedness.
In reply to a question as to
whether, in the formation of a

old counties shall stand for a
portion of the old counties' indebtedness,
Attorney General
Peeples has rendered this decision:
"Answering your inquiry of
the 11th inst., I beg to advise
that where a new county is
formed the territory embraced
therein remains liable for its
prorata proportion of the past
indebtedness of the counties
from which the territory is
taken."
Veterans in Rock Hill.
Next Tuesday and Wednesday
Rock Hill will be host to the
Confederate Veterans of South
Carolina. Arrangements for the
entertainment have heen going
forward for several weeks and
with these complete the veterans
may rest assured that entertainment
of the highest order will
be extended to all who visit that
city.
Governor Manning and his
Staff will be present during the
reunion and the governor will
deliver the address of welcome
on behalf of the State of South
Carolina.
The address of welcome for
the city of Rock Hill will be
delivered by W. G. Stevens,
mayor. Mrs. E. E. CJoud,
president of Ann White chapter.
U. D. C., will welcome the
veterans to Rock Hill in behalf
of the Daughters of the Confederacy.
John T. Roddev.
I president, will speak in behalf
of the Rock Hill Chamber of
Commerce.
NOTICE.
In accordance with the Constitution
of the Democratic party, the various
Clubs of this county are called to meet
at their respective polling places at
such hour as may be convenient and
designated by the president, on Saturday,
April 22nd, 1916, for the purpose
of re-organization, electing delegates
to the county convention and a member
of the executive committee.
Each club will elect one delegate to
the county convention for every twenty-five
members and a majority fraction
thereof, and will also elect one of
their members to serve as a member of
the county executive committee.
The county convention is called to
meet in the court house at York, S. C..
on Monday, the 1st day of May. 1910,
at 11 o'clock in the forenoon.

AN ORDINANCE
Providing an Annual Street Tax and
for the Collection of Same.
Be it ordained by the Mayor aud Aliermen
of the town of Fort Mill. S. ('.
md by authority of the same:
Section 1. AH men resident in the
town of Fort Mill between the ages ~f 1
21 and 55 years, and not exempt by
itatute, shall pay unto the Town Treasurer
annually on or before the 15th
lay of May the sum of three dollars
($.'{.(Mt) in payment of street tax.
Sec. 2. Any person refusing ufter
legal notice to pay this tax shnll be
lined in the sum of not less than $5 or
ae imprisoned not less than ten days.
Sec. 3, That all ordinances or parts
it ordinances inconsistent with this or- |
finance are hereby repealed.
Done and ratified in council assembles
