Lewis, chairman of the j York Democratic Executive committee, a meeting of the Fort j Mill Democratic club has hcen called for next Saturday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock in the town hall. The purpose of the meeting is to effect a reorganization of the ciub, name delegates to the county convention on Monday, May 1, and transact such other business as may properly come before the club. All Democrats of the township are requested to be present. Gold Hill school, in upper Fort Mill township, closed an eight months' term last Friday and a basket picnic which was attended by a large number of j. people from the surrounding!1 community was held. The en- !. rollment during the year just j closed was 81 and the patrons j are well pleased with the ac- i j complishments of the pupils. ] The teachers were Prof. F. W. A marriage of interest, as well as a pleasant surprise, to the many friends of the groom in Fort Mill and the vicinity, was that Thursday evening at 7 o'clock of Mr. E. S. Parks of this city and Miss Leanna Torrence t>f the lower Steel Creek section Df Mecklenburg county. The marriage was performed by Presiding Elder P. B. Wells, of the Rock Hill circuit, at his home in Rock Hill. The couple spent the night of Thursday in the home of the groom's sister. Mrs. Frances M. Mr. Parks is one Fort Mill's best known merchants and his bride is well known and popular both in this city and her home section. The couple are residing in the home of Mr. Parks* mother, Mrs. Laura A. Parks, on Clebourne street, this city. As to County Indebtedness. In reply to a question as to whether, in the formation of a ' THE PORT i new county, the parts taken from old counties shall stand for a portion of the old counties' indebtedness, Attorney General Peeples has rendered this decision: "Answering your inquiry of the 11th inst., I beg to advise that where a new county is formed the territory embraced therein remains liable for its prorata proportion of the past indebtedness of the counties from which the territory is taken." Veterans in Rock Hill. Next Tuesday and Wednesday Rock Hill will be host to the Confederate Veterans of South Carolina. Arrangements for the entertainment have heen going forward for several weeks and with these complete the veterans may rest assured that entertainment of the highest order will be extended to all who visit that city. Governor Manning and his Staff will be present during the reunion and the governor will deliver the address of welcome on behalf of the State of South Carolina. The address of welcome for the city of Rock Hill will be delivered by W. G. Stevens, mayor. Mrs. E. E. CJoud, president of Ann White chapter. U. D. C., will welcome the veterans to Rock Hill in behalf of the Daughters of the Confederacy. John T. Roddev. I president, will speak in behalf of the Rock Hill Chamber of Commerce. NOTICE. In accordance with the Constitution of the Democratic party, the various Clubs of this county are called to meet at their respective polling places at such hour as may be convenient and designated by the president, on Saturday, April 22nd, 1916, for the purpose of re-organization, electing delegates to the county convention and a member of the executive committee. Each club will elect one delegate to the county convention for every twenty-five members and a majority fraction thereof, and will also elect one of their members to serve as a member of the county executive committee. The county convention is called to meet in the court house at York, S. C.. on Monday, the 1st day of May. 1910, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon. W. W.
