D. Faulkner,, in this city. Mrs. M. L. Henry and little daughter, TUvelyn, of St. Peters. burg, Fla., and Miss Thelma ^ Armstrong, of Spencer, N. C., are guests in the home of J. H. Sutton-, of the township. B. M. Lee and family, who for several years have resided at Finlay, Texas, returned to Fort, Mill Monday at noon and will again reside on Mr. Lee's plantation south of town. W. L. Ferguson, of Concord, N. C., who, with his family, was a recent visitor to this city, will return about September 15th and will take a position as cotton and seed buyer for the E. W. Kimbrell company. The little daughter of Mrs. Mamie Thompson, which Has been ill of dyptheria in the home of its grandfather, J. H. Bailes, for several days, was reported yesterday to have improved to such an extent as to now be considered out of danger from the late attack of the disease. The pictures are not acini issable to the mails but through other sources have gotten scattered over the country. ? * From the Rock Hill Record it is learned that a swimming meet is being arranged between the Fort Mill aquatic club and the Rock Hill Y. M. C. A. aquatic ^ team to be held in that city in a few days. All of the boys who participated in the meet last year are urged to enter the contest being arranged. A most interesting program has been prepared for the sessions and delegates from every Baptist church in the countv will be in attendance. The town of York is making extensive preparations lor a home-coming and chautauqua to be held there September 1. 2 and 3. Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock, j The purpose of the meeting is to discuss matters tending to the betterment of the farmers, and all interested in agriculture are urgently requested to be present. A young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. K. Moore, who reside on East Confederate street, suffered intensely for several hours Monday afternoon as a result of having been bitten on the foot by a snake, supposedly a spreading adder. The child was in the woods near its home when bitten by the snake. A physician was hurriedly summoned and after working with the child for several hours the pain subsided and the little girl it is now thought will suffer no further inconvenience from the wound. ! .' r ? G. Graham, of Sharon, N. C., was in Fort Mill Thursday, shaking hands -with his I many friends and enjoying him sen in general. As a result of the condition of the bridge, a party of York "boosters," traveling in 5 80 automobiles and headed for Fort Mill, were compelled to turn back, as were numerous other teams and automobiles which approached from either i side of the river. It is understood that arrangements had 1 already been made to repair the bridge and it is expected the structure will be good shape , again in a few days.
