Announcement is made that

railway will dispense with the
services of ticket auditors, or
collectors, on all its lines, this
duty falling again to the conduct
ore, as iormeriy. The auditor
system has been in vogue on the
Southern's lines for about seven
years.
The national weather forecast,
issued Tuesday from Washington,
stated that showers and
warmer weather would prevail
throughout this section Thursday
and Friday, with fair weather
the remainder of the week.
The Southern Railway is advertising
an excursion rate to
Charleston on Thursday, July 8,
the round trip fare from Fort
Mill being $8.50. The train for
Charleston will pass Fort Mill at
7:12 a. m,, and the privilege is
given passengers of remaining in
the City by the Sea until and including
the morning of Tuesday, i
July 13.
The remains of Miss Annie
Jones, eldest daughter of the1
late Rob't Jones, were brought
to Fort Mill Saturday afternoon
from Greensboro, N. C., and inXT

Miss Jones' death occurred Friday
following an illness of several
months. She was a sister of '
Charles Jones, of Fort Mill, and
Mrs. D. O. Potts, of Pleasant
Valley, and with her parents resided
in this city some years ago.
Harvey Garris, 11-year-old son
ef Sam'l Garris, an employe of '
the Fort Mill Mfg. company, i
suffered a broken leg Tuesday :
> afternoon in an accident at the

street. Young Garris and some 1
companions were playing about
the building and Garris fell from [
a platform, a distance of ten
feet or more, to the ground, with
the result that his right leg was
broken just above the ankle.
Miss Ella Beaty, of Winnsboro,
is the guest in this city "of her
sister, Mrs. W. A. Hafner.
Mrs. C. E. Ross and son, Arthur
Young, are visiting rela
tives in this city.
Mrs. Chas. Klueppelberg arrived
Tuesday from Ashburn,
Ga., for a visit to relatives in
this city.
Report from Gold Hill says
there is no improvement in the
condition of either Sanrl Boyd or
the infant of David Gibson, both
of whom have been dangerously
ill for some time.
Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Young are
in Salisbury, N. C., today to attend
the funeral of Mrs. Chas.
M. Brown, whose death occurred
in that city yesterday.
J. L. Talley, an employe of the
Southern Power company, narrowly
escaped serious injury in
an accident Sunday morning on
the company's transmission line
several miles north of Fort Mill.
Mr. Talley was in tbe act of
tightening a .wire when a large
block, used for the purpose,
slipped from its fastening and
struck him a glancing blow on
the head. He was brought to
town at once for medical attention
and several stitches were
found necessary to close up the
wound in his scalp.

Bailes, in Louisville, Ky., have
returned home.
Miss Daisy Nivens, of Charlotte,
spent the week-end with
her sister, Mrs. Bell Cross, in
this community.
