Notice is hereby given that the TAX
BOOKS for York countv will be opened 1
on THURSDAY, the 15TH DAY OK
OCTOBER, 1914, and remain open until

for the collection of STATE, COU NTY.
SCHOOL and LOCAL TAXES, for the
fiscal year 1914, without penalty; after
which day ONE per cent penalty will
be added to all payments made in the
month of January, 1916, and TWO per j
\cent penalty will be added to all payments
made in the month of February,
1915, und SEVEN per cent penalty will
be added to all payments made from
the 1st day of March, 1915, to the 15th
day of March, 1915, and after this date
all unpaid taxes will go into executions
and ull unpaid Single Foils will be
turned over to the several Magistrates
for prosecution in accordance with law.
For the convenience of taxpayers, 1

for the Interest on the Waterworks
Bonds, Provide a Sinking Fund, to
Purchase Fire Protective Fquipment,
the Time of Payment Thereof, and
Penalty for Non-payment of Same.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Al- !
dermen, the town council, of Fort Mill, 1
S. by authority of the same:
See. 1. That a levy of ten (lb; mills
on each and every dollar of real and }
personal property, not exempt from
taxation, neld, owned, or liable for taxation,
within the town of Fort Mill, S.
('., on the 1st day of January, l9l4, be,
and the same is hereby made for the I
following purposes:
For ordinary purposes mills
For'lnterest on Waterworks
bonds 2\ mills I
For Sinking Fund U mills
For Fire Protective Equipment

Sec. 2. That said taxes shall become
due and payable at the office of the
City Treasurer on the 1st day of November.
i9l4. Taxes may be paid up to

Misses Louise Young, Sue Kerley
and Mary York Johnson,
students of Queen's College,
Charlotte, were guests Sunday
and Monday in the home of Mr.
and Mrs. J. T. Young in this
city.
Mr. J. Knox Windle and Miss
Lessie Epps of Fort Mill spent
the Thanksgiving holidays at
the home of Mr. G. C. Greer on
Route 2. They made the trip on
a Harlcy-Davidson motorcycle
without accident and in a short

A "Dime Reading," together
with a play entitled "The Spinsters'
Return," is to be given
in the school auditorium by
local talent tomorrow (Friday)
evening. The doors will be
opened at 7:30 and a flat admission
of ten cents will be
charged.

the local Home Missionary society.
The sale will be held in
the dental parlors of Dr. J. L.
Spratt, and among things offered
for sale will be fancy
work, home-made candies, etc.
The sale, it is understood, will
open at ID o'clock this morning.
The finishing touches to Fort
Mill's waterworks system have
been in progress this week in
the laying of cement gutters in
Main street where the paving
was removed to put down the
pipe line. The big tank on
Ardrey Hill had 11) feet of water
in it at last reports and the
pressure gauge at the office of
the local telephone company
showed that with this amount
of water in the tank there was
a pressure of 50 pounds on the
Main street line. This pressure
will, of course, increase as the
big tank is tilled.
