No. 112. Entered at the postodlce at Fort Mill. S*C.. as mail matter of the second class. ^ THURSDAY. JULY 16. 1914. Fort Mill is not yet in the class of finished towns in which ; the only things that ever happen are morning, noon and night. This was demonstrated forcibly in the auction sale of business and residential lots Tuesday. The lots not onlv brought cood prices, but what is better, quite a number of them passed into the hands of men who expect to begin the erection of homes thereon in the near future, meaning, it is hoped, quite a building boom for the town before the fall sets in. For a number of years desirable residential lots have been at a premium in Fort Mill and this fact has operated against the upbuilding of the town, but with the opening of the new subdivision which has just been placed upon the market there will be no reason for some time for anyone wishing to erect a home here to have to abandon tin* idea because a desirable site is not available. The future of Fort Mill is more promising today than it has been for years. Individual effort is a good thing, properly applied, but. if every man in this town decided to work in his own particular way for the upbuilding of the community, we wouldn't progress very far or very fast. "A long pull, a strong pull and a pull all together" has often pulled a town out of a rut and saved it from stagnation, starting it on t' e high road of progress and prosperity. But every fellow, < with no cohesive community plfnrt' will c<v\n nut tl>n t, ..... uui/n |/ut i/iic iitrsi town in the country in the muck and mire and effectually block the wheels of progress. One old ox is mighty poor dependence for moving a heavy load, but put a yoke on them together and note the teamwork. When in unison they bend their necks to the bow, something has to come. So it is in the development of a community. Let the progressive, loyal citizens work in unison for a common cause and something generally happens. that something being the i building up of the community. 1 making it a better and more j attractive place in which to live, j Are you yoked up with the' boosters of this community, I doing effective teamwork, or are ' you pulling in a contrary divee- ! tion all alone.
