Mr. Massey sailed from Ilobart
early in February and was 77
days on the water. Soon after j
landing: at San Francisco lie was
stricken ill and was confined in
a hospital in that city for several
weeks.
Reports from Pineville say
that section has witnessed a
general extermination of dogs
during the last ten days, on
account of so many of the
canines having been bitten by a
i stray dog which from all api
pearanccs was afflicted with
hydrophobia. Several cows
which it is believed were attacked
by the dog are said to
i have shown signs of rabies.
The Majestic Theatre has advertised

picture entitled "A Fight for a
Million" which is claimed to be
one of the best Western features
making the rounds of the movies,

gold fields and brings out in
a most striking manner a girl's!

Revival services, to continue
through the week, will begin at

School Ends Session.
The closing exercises of the
Fort Mill graded school came
to an end Thursday evening.

when the Rev. B. P. Wells,
of Rock Hill, preached the baccalaureate
sermon to an audience
which occupied every available
seat. There were also songs by
the different- grades* and hymns
by t he audience.
Wednesday evening1 the exercises
were resumed and at this
time (here were drills by girls of
tlie several grades, a carnival of
(lowers, and the delivery of
medals.
Thursday afternoon at (k.'iO
o'clock a large crowd assembled
on the school grounds to witness
tin- crowning of the May queen,
daisy chain procession and May
pole dunce, and again at 8 o'clock
the crowd assembled in the
auditorium for the concluding
exercises, which consisted of
songs, essays by the graduating
class, and the address to the
graduates by Dr. Reed Smith, of
Columbia. Dr. Smith's talk was
along the line of practical edu-;
cation, calling attention to the
progress that has been made
during the last few years and
dwelling at length on the cost of
ignorance.

Wm. T. Alderson Dead.
William T. Alderson. for many
years a r< siilent of Fort Mill and :
vicinity and well known in this ?
city, died suddenly at his home
two miles north of Van Wyck,
Lancaster county, on Thursday
night. May 1 I. Mr. Alderson
had been slightly ill for several
days, hut was apparently no
worse when he retired the night
of his death. During the night,
however, he took worse and he
had evidently heen dead for
several hours when early Friday
morning his family found him
dead in bed.
Mr. Alderson was about 70
years of age. and a Confederate
soldier, having rendered valiant
service in the War Between the

Indications are that a large
crowd will be present to witness1
the laying of the court house j
corner stone, which will take j

interest ing ceremonies to he held
in connection with the event and
the expected presence here of
many distinguished members of
tin4 Masonic order, the fact that
Judge (lage is to be the orator,
of the occasion, will attract
many to Yorkville. A hotter
selection of a speaker could not!
have been made, and an able and
appropriate address may be expected.
