Jones has returned from a visit of several days to her son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Fulp, at Mint I Hill, N. C. Dr. and Mrs. J. L. Spratt left Monday morning for Philadeli phia, where Dr. Spratt is this | -week attending dental clinics at the University of Pennsylvania. Floyd Hinson and Miss Mattie Wells, a young couple from Sharon, Mecklenburg county, were married in this city Tuesday morning by Magistrate R. P. Harris. Mrs. W. L. Reardon. of Graniteville, arrived Thursday evening and is a guest at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Harris on east Booth street. Owing to a wreck on the Charlotte-Washington division. Southern passenger train No. 31, due j at Fort Mill at 6 a. m., did not! arrive Sunday until 6 p. m., just 12 hours behind schedule. Pensioners of the town and township will be pleased to know that the 1914 pension money has been received at the Savings Bank of Fort Mill and that the Veterans can get their pay by calling on Cashier Meacham. It is learned that Mr. W. F. Lewis, secretary-treasurer of the Fort Mill Mfg. company, contemplates the erection of a handsome residence in this city the coming summer. The location of the home has not yet been decided. The pupils and teachers of the graded school will give an entertainment in the auditorium on Friday night, April 10, for the benefit of the school grounds. They will be assisted by the orchestra. Admission 5 and 10 cents. Rev. A. McLees, the evangelist, better known as "Black Sam Jones," is conducting a protracted meeting at St. James Methodist church, colored, in this city. Rev. McLees is a forceful speaker and the meeting he is conducting is being largely attended. Invitations were received in Fort Mill the last week to the approaching marriage of Miss Ashlyn Lowe, of Concord N. C., and Junius R. Cannon, of New York. Miss Lowe has a number of warm friends here, in addition to relatives, and has been an attractive arid welcomed visitor to the town a number of 1 times in the recent past. The little fellows ! weighed 71-2 pounds, each, at birth, are doing nicely, and the parents are happy. Information of the death of B. Frank Merritt Tuesday at his home a few miles south of Rock IIill was received in Fort Mill Wednesday morning. Mr. Merritt had been ill of pneumonia for some days. He was formerly a resident of this vicinity and was well known to the older : residents. Frank Deserves New Trial. William J. Burns, the noted detective, who for several weeks has been investigating the murder in Atlanta of Mary Phagan, has reached the conclusion that Leo. M. Frank, under death sen tence for the girl's death, should be given a new trial. Whether the murderer of the Phagan girl was Frank or someone else. Burns has not said, but intimates that evidence which he has secured during his investigation will enable him to bring forth the real murderer of the girl and establish his guilt beyond a doubt. Burns is expected to make a statement in the matter during the week and it is believed this will embody conclusions which will induce the supreme court to grant Frank a new trial. Puzzler.
