No More Dollar Weeklies.
The movement by the weekly
! I papers of North Carolina for a
i decent figure for subscription
price, seems to be general. One
dollar and a half a year is the
I price mostly in favor and after
: I January 1, the dollar weekly
i | will be a thing of the past. This
is a movement for the better;
ment of the press of the State as
I a whole. The extra half dollar
{ will enable the editor to give his
? readers a more satisfactory news
, ( service, will to some extent rei
lieve his mind of the ever present
worry about making both
i ends meet, and will work to the
j mutual satisfaction of both pub)
lisher and subscriber We nui^
i that the publishers of weeklies
; in other Slates are moving in the
t same direction. Trie Pennsylvania
editors have announced
i aii increase of 50 per cent over
. the old subscription rates after
the first of the year. The pubj
lishers should now adopt a
] reasonable scale ot advertising
rates and never cut it.?Charlotte
