AN ORDINANCE
Prohibiting the Blowing of Steam Whistles
Within the Incorporate Limits of
the town of Fort Mill, S. C., by any
Railway Company.
Be it ordained by the town council of
the town of Fort Mill, S. C., in council
assembled and by the authority of the
same:
Section 1. That from anil after the
passage of this ordinance it shall be
unlaw! ul for any railway company,
its servants, agents or employees, to
blow or cause to be blown any steam
whistle within the incorporate limits of
the town of Fort Mill, S. C.
Sec. 2. That any violation of this
ordinance shall be punishable by a fine
of not more than one hundred ($100)
dollars or by imprisonment for a period
of not more than thirty <110) days.
Done and ratified in council this the

School District No. 4, (Massey
school) in Lower Fort Mill on
Friday August 8. to determine
whether a special two mill tax
shall be levied in the district for
ordinary school purposes.
Prof, and Mrs. J. D. Fulp and
children left Fort Mill the last
week for Mint Hill. N. C., where
Prof. Fulp will fill the position
of superintendent of Bain Academy.

fall term of the school began
last Monday.
Prof. J. W. Barber, who has
been teaching for the past year
at Ehrhardt, has returned home ,
witli his wife for an extended
visit to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Alex Barber. Prof. Barber has
accepted the principalship of the
high school at Chappells for the
coming year.
John E. Jones, son of Mr. and
M rs. W. H. Jones, of the township,
sailed from New York on
Tuesday of last week for Barcelona.
Spain. Mr. Jones has accepted
a position with a large
construction company at Barcelona
and will be located there
probably for the next two years.

sent to the gang several months
ago by Mayor McElhaney lor
selling cocaine, was on Thursday
committed to jail by Magistrate
Harris to await trial at the November
term of court upon the

the negro was convicted in the
town court will he brought,
against him when he is arraigned
in the fall.
Much progress has been made
during the last week by the
| township road force in grading
the new stretch of road through
the Springs land just north of
town. By the aid of the hig
traction engine of Fred Nims,
i two road scrapers were operated
and the grading progressed more
rapidly than ordinarily. It is
i hoped to have the new stretch
) of road open to the public hy the
I end of the week.
