The play at the auditorium,which
was postponed from last
Friday evening will be given on
Friday next, at 8:30 p. m. Go
out and encourage the young
people.
The Noxon carnival company,
which gave a number of shows
in this city during the last week,
seems to have struck hard lines.
It was stated on the streets that
the company was all hut bankrupt
when it took leave of the
? town Monday morning.
After an absence of several
months from Fort Mill, Alex E.
Young returned to this city from
Atlanta Friday evening and has
accepted his former position with
the Massey Drug Store. While
in Atlanta Mr. Young attended
a college ol pharmacy.
A windstorm of almost cyclonic
velocity, accompanied by a heavy
downpour of rain, swept Fort
Mill and vicinity at an early hour
Saturday morning. Many of the
residents of the town were
awakened by the storm and much
, damage was expected as a result
but little of consequence has
been reported.
Messrs. A. R. McElhaney and
S. W. Parks left Fort Mill Monday
evening for Greenville,
where, as representatives of
White Oak Camp, No. 41, they
are attending a meeting of the
State grand lodge of the W. O.
W. Messrs. McElhaney and
Parks are expected to return to
Fort Mill today.
Mrs. Margaret Nivens, mother
of the late Lee S. Nivens, died
Monday afternoon at the home
of the latter, three miles north
of Fort Mill. Mrs. Nivens was
among the oldest residents of
the township and had been in
feeble health for some time.
The burial was made at Flint
Hill church Tuesday.
The annual inspection of the
Fort Mill Light Infantry will
take place Friday evening April
11. The officers of the company
are doing everything in their
power to have the men and
property in the pink of condition
when the inspecting officers
reach Fort Mill. Drills are being
held twice a week and all the
members are manifesting great
interest in the work.
Workmen will within a few
days begin tearing away the
brick front of the banking room
of the Savings Bank of Fort Mill
and changing the front to one
of plate glass. This bank has
recently made a notable improvement
to the interior of its
building and with the additional
improvement of aglass front will
have quite a handsome place of
business.
The fertilizer movement is
now on in full blast and the merchants
of the town are kept bus>

supplying the wants of the
farmers and the railroads are
pushed to supply the shipments
to the merchants. The weather
and roads seem never to vet too
bad for hauling guano and the
streets in the vicinity of the
freight depot have presented a
busy scene during the last week.
