Still, new superintendent of the Mill fort mill, has moved his family from Pineville to this city and is occupying the two-story Ardrey dwelling on Clebourn street. Miss Effie Patterson, daughter of Mr. H. N. Patterson, of the Barbersville section, and Bishop Byrum, of Coolemee, N. C.. were married Saturday morning in Charlotte. Bank's McGinn, a young farmer of the Pleasant Valley community, and Mi** Ola Hall, daughter of Magistrate D. K. Hall of the same community, weie married Sunday at Pinevilie. The public buildings hill which passed the lower house of the National Congress last week included an appropriation of $50,000 for a new postofiice lor Lancaster. The school children may obtain some valuable geographic and historical information about the Republic of Mexico by reading the article on page one headed "Mexico." Moi k McKee, a young negro man, died suddenly Saturday * afternoon at bis home on Academy street. McKee was addicted to the drug habit and it was thought his death was due to an overdose of morphine or other opiate. Messrs. A. F. Montrose and L. Y. Me Alee, two young men from Charlotte, have for several days been arranging for a motion picture show for Fort Mill and now announce that the show is ready for the public. The show room is on Main street, next t<j the grocery of W. L. Hall. The pictures are changed nightly. Mr. J, W. Lynn, a loom fixer in the Millfort mill, was desperately ill for a time Saturday aiternoon from ptomaine poisoning. Mr. Lynn was stricken ill while standing on Main streel and was taken into the store o! the Fort Mill Drug company, where a physician labored heroically for some time before the sick man was able to be removec to his home in the mill village. The people of Fort Mill anc the upper part; of the townshii are looking forward eagerly tc the completion of a Mecklenburj county macadam road to the county line northeast of Fori Mill. York county already hai a good dirt road to the line, anc the distance to Charlotte will be about four miles less than bj the present automobile route The citizens of Rock Hill anc the rest of the county will be equally benefitted. A freight wreck which de layed railway traffic for severa hours took place a few hundrec yards north of the station a Pineville early Sunday morning The wreck was caused by ai ODen switch which had. it wai thought, been thrown open bj some miscreant. The engineei of the freight train suffered th< breaking of several ribs, th< engine was badly damaged am something like a dozen box can were piled one on the other ii the wreck. The local chapter of the D. A R. and the local glee club wil give a play at the school audi torium this (Thursday) evening beginning at 8 o'clock. Th< title of the play is "A Silve: Tea." A small entrance fe< will be collected and the proceeds will be used to erect a suitable i marker at old Unity cemetery east of town. Country Treasurer H. E. Neil, who was a visitor to Fort Mill Sunday, stated that he has during the last ten days refunded the 1912 taxes of many of the farmers of Bethel and King's Mountain townships whose crops were destroyed by a storm last sum- j mer. This is in pursuance of an act just passed by the general ; assembly and approved by the i : governor. The constitutional school tax, special taxes or poll taxes are not included in or affected by this law.
