(By E. O. RKI.I.EK8. Director of Ever.
Ing Department. The Moody Bible In
tttute of Chicago.)
LESSON FOR MARCH 31.
I
REVIEW LESSON FIRST QUARTER
Suggestion! for Busy Teachers.
A good way In which to present I
review of the lessons for the frs
quarter of the year 1912 would be t<
1 select the best person possible to ac
' as leader and then to have elthei
twelve classes, or that many selet tet
groups (individuals may be utilized
and have each present the mail
' thought of each of the twelve leaioni
J somewhat as follows: I^et the lendei
make a statement of the purpose be
i lug followed in this year's work. vis.
a presentation of the life of Chris
' calling attention to the golden tex
I for the day: "And the people tha
i sat in darkness saw a great light, ant
to them that sat in the region ant
shadow of death, to them did ligh
spring up." Matt. 4:16.
Take the first lesson?let some el
derly man speak for the character o
Zacharlas the priest?let him tell o
; the faithful discharge >t his templt
duties and while thus occupied o
j meeting the angel Gabriel with hit
startling message which was a chal
! lenge to Zacharlas' faith. Then foi
j the second lesson let some mother tel
I of the Incidents of the birth of Joht
! the Baptist, of the rejoicing of friend!
and neighbors and the hymn of Zacb
arias who received his speech as sooi
I as he had testified to God's will ant
showed his belier.
As for lesson three, let some chjk
briefly state the facts OHly. or th<
birth of Jesus, 1. e., read Luke 2:8-15
and this to be followed by some mush
suggestive of the angelic hosts.
In lesson four we revert to tb<
temple service again at the dedtcatloi
of Jesus. It would be very approprl
ate to hare the superintendent of th<
Cradle Roll at this Juncture to g?
through the service of receiving i
baby for the Crade Roll such as Is fre
quently performed, keeping in mint
the main fact of the lesson.
Now let three men enter the room
dressed In costume If desired, and re
cite either the necessary scriptun
verses or some poetry that will cor
vey to all the Idea of the visit of tlx
wise men to Jerusalem in search o
the child Jesus and that they fount
him not in Herod's palace, but in low
ly Bethlehem and there presentet
their gifts and worshiped him.
For the sixth lesson, let a twelve
year-old boy having a good presenct
and strong speaking voice recite Lukt
2:41-50.
Avoid Involved Questions.
Let the pastor of the church or som<
other clergyman tell of the prophecj
of Isaiah and of John's fulfilling th<
same as he preached out in the conn
try warning the people to avoid the
wrath of God and to show by tbeii
righteous living the fruit of the lives
that had repented of their evil ways
Emphasize, however, that John's great
est work (and our's as well) was tc
point men to Jesus the Lamb of the
world.
In a review such as we are now con
ducting we must avoid the involved
questions and only present the grea
facts of the baptism of Jesus; the wit
ness of John, the presence of th<
Holy Spirit and God's audible approva
ofjthose silent years 1n Nazareth. Thli
Is the eighth lesson.
The ninth lesson has to do with th<
call of the first disciples. For thi
( five boyB might be selected. Let th<
leader recite Mark. 1:14. 15, "Andrew
verses 17 and 18. Now let "James
take verse 19 then one t Simon Peter
| recite verse 16 and "John his brother
verse 20. The leader can recite verse
21 to 26 and all together verses 2
t and 28.
i A physician would be an approprlat
! person to present lesson ten. Let. hii
I sketch the picture briefly of "all th
[ city" gathered about Peter's door a
the end of the day, the sick bein
1 healed; of Jesus getting up early th
next day to "go apart and pray," hoi
, he proceeded on his journey and mil
Istry of healing and teaching. Hoi
he met the leper who, after bein
healed Is commanded to thank Go
1 through the channels of worship, tei
tlmony, and of service. Emphasize
j "He went about doing good."
Some busy business man ought t
depict the story of "Jesus teachin
In Capernaum," lesson eleven, th
great throng in and about the hoyst
the anxiety of the friends, their eari
estness as shown by their tearing u
the roof of the house. How Jestt
made answer to "their* faith" and c
i his command to the paralytic to tak
up his bed and walk thereby showin
the completeness of the cure and thr
there was to be no relapse.
Eruphasire team play and illustrat
by a modern miracle if there be sufl
1 clent time. Jesus the daily friend an
his interest in home life is the hear
! of the twelfth lesson. Show how h
was constantly teaching on the roa<
by the sea, in synagogue, etc., etc
also In the home, yes even at meal!
Limit this lesson to Mark 2:13-17, te
whose house it was and what shoul
be our attitude towards thoke not c
our own social circle or standing.
Must Drill Carefully.
Of course care must be taken not t
let any one lesson consume too uuc
time else the whole will he much to
long This means careful drill an
presentation before review Sunday.
If a written review is desired s
frame the questions that the least e
ficient scholar may have an answe
I. e. iet your question suggest th
answer as far as possible. The sui
cess of a written review will depen
upon the previous work of the teacl
ers. If this suggested program is li
terspersed with singing, avoid singin
all the verses and unnecessary instn
mental preludes and interludes. A
the close let the leader drill the scho<
upon the twelve subjects.

Soma Interssting Facts Regarding
Health Statistics.
(
Few people realize to what extent
their health depends upon the condition
of the kidneys.
The physician In nearly all cases of
serious Illness, makes a chemical anal.
ysis of the patient's urine. He knows
that unless the kidneys are doing
their work properly, the other organs
cannot be brought back to health and
strength.
When the kidneys are neglected or
abused in any way, serious results are
sure to follow. According to health
statistics. Bright's Disease, which Is
really an advanced form of kidney
1 trouble, caused nearly ten thousand
t deaths in 1910, in the state of New
) York alone. Therefore, it behooves us
t to pay more attention to the health of

THE SAFE LAXATIVE
FOR ELDERLY PEOPLE
Most elderlv people are more or
teps troubled with a chronic, persistent
constipation, due largely to
lack of sufficient exercise. They experience
difficulty In digesting even
light food, with a consequent belching
of stomach gases, drowsiness after
eating, headache and a feeling of lassitude
and general discomfort.
Doctors advise against cathartics and
violent purgatives of every kind, rec- ;
ommending a mild, gentle laxative
tonic, like Dr. Caldwell's Syrup Pepsin,
to efTect relief without disturbing the
entire system.
Dr. Caldwell's Syrup Pepsin is the
perfect laxative, easy in action, certain
in effect and, withal, pleasant to
the taste. It possesses tonic properties
that strengthen the stomach, liver
and bowels and is a remedy that has
been for years the great standby in
thousands of families, and should be
in every family medicine chest. It is
equally as valuable for children as for
older people.
Druggists everywhere sell Dr. Caldwell's
Syrup Pepsin in 60c and $1.00
bottles. If you have never tried it
send your name and address to Dr. w. !
B. Caldwell. 201 Washington St.. Montlcello,
III., and he will be very glad to
send a sample bottle for trial.
