Pay Your Debts, It m Entirely -wrong: to owe money apd have cotton laying,f around your home. If those you owe n&d their money, and doubt-1 less some- are almost compelled to have it, don't sell.the cotton at the present price, but put it' in the warehouse and borrow money on it and pay your debts, including the subscription to the paperthatyou are taking. Everyone knows that the present price i of cotton Is too Idw, but do not work a,hardship on the mab who has waited all year for his money; j it is pot his fault that the price) of the staple 1s not better. The J Wall street sharks who never1 saw a cbtton field have fixed the price .without permitting the farmer to have a word in the matter. '-Don't'let anyone deceive you on this question. Join your brother farmers who are trying to resist oppression. Don't stand idle! Get busy! The Lord helps those who help themselves. "He who 'dallies is dastard; he who doubts, is damned!" Will you stand, like a lot of slaves and be robbed! From the Atlantic to Ukianoma tne cotion iarmere art* | rising up in their might and bandipg L .themselves together against their common foe. Lay aside all differences of politics, religion and personalities and put your shoulder to the wheel. You owe it to your wife and children and yourself to do soLet every fanner resolve to plant but half the cotton next year that he did this year and not sell' a pound for less than 12 cents. You are mastersof the situation. Stick together and win or divide and be ruined. Warehouse your cottqp and pay your debts, but don't sell your cotton for less than it oo?t to make it : i ' ? .?rr? ?? --i fe'X V*. \ Thfc first issae of The Evening Herald, Rock Hill's new daily paper, reached this office Friday. The initial number of The Herald . contained 24 pages and was filled with attractively set advertising and !kood, live reading '.natter. In his salutatory note, Mr. Fain, the editor, stated that The Hert aid could not promise its readers a 24-page paper every day. but it prt>prises them the very bestpapei; that Rock Hill is willing to support. The Herald well deserves the support of the business people of Rock Hill and The Times hopes that Mr. Fain and his associates will meet with much success in their under-, taking. ; ' Every farmer of the township shoufd attend the farmers' meeting to be held in the town hall next Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock, the purpose of which is explained elsewhere. The pried at, which the farmer wilt dispose of the products of hisj next year'e toil rests entirely ' with the farmer himself, and I unless wise judgement and concert of action has a place in the growth of the next crop the far-! mer may expect to find himself j probably in worse shape financially than he has been the present fall. The time is ripe for the farn>ers to get together and take ! a firm stand in their own behalf, j What is to become of the kneepants boy who spends his leisure ' hourb standing around the Stores, smoRing cigarettes and cigars and listening to obscene and profane language? This question should be of more than passing moment to some of the parents i of Fort Mill and vicinity. ? Ogden Farmer Killed by Train. The kock Hill Herald of Saturday told as follows of the death j Wednesday evening of John' Simms, a well known farmer of the Ogden community who was struck by Southern train No. 27 at Steele's crossing, four miles south of Rock Hill: The train was running half an hour late and was going at a rapid rate of speed when it ap- { proached Steele's crossing. The j track is straight on either side j of the crossing and why Mr. J Simms did not hear the approaching train or the engineerj see fthe vehicle in the act of j crossing the track is not known, i Thejroad runs, parallel with the track .and crosses at an angle and for this reason the driver would have bad bis back to the approaching train. However, it would seem that he could have heard the crossing blow in case the engineer gave the signal as required by law upon approach-1 ing crossings. The engineer quickly brought! his train to a standstill and the wounded, farmer -piye/1 on board jfndc?r>a to Ogden, the j next sUPti^jpwhere he wafe Jeft jj Simra^d fed ^before phjfeic&n J could'tettclrfhe scene, ho we v er. f < Mr. Siir.ms was about 30 yeai of age and is survived by a wife, j This is the third accident to j happen at the Steele crossing. j ? * WHY BE GAVE THANKS. ! i > o - -r-?? ] Fountain Inn Tribune.
