Mr. W. H. Windle has received
a summons to appear foi
jury duty at the Federal court
which opens in Charleston on the
21st inst.
Prof. J. A. Boyd, who is the
principal ol the public school at
Liberty Hill, Kershaw county,
spent from Friday evening until
Monday morning with his family
^ in Fort Mill.
The vacant lot on Booth street,
opposite The Times office, known
as the Bailes lot. was sold at auction
by the heirs of the late J. P.
Bailes Saturday afternoon and
was bid in by W. B. Meacham,
the consideration being $1,050.
Among the visitors to this section
during the last week was
the Hon. R. W. Hamilton, member
of the General Assembly
for Union county, who spent
several days as the guest of his
daughter, Mrs. Osmond Barber.
Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock
Rev. W. A. Hafner, pastor of the
Fort Mill Presbyterian church,
will preach in the chapel of the
Fort Mill Mfg. Co. for the residents
of the mill village and
any others who care to attend the
services.
The loss to Mr. S. H. Epps, Sr.,
in the fire which destroyed his
corn crib a few nights ago was
considerably more than was at
first reported. Including a quantity
of corn, fertilizer, wagon,
farm implements and the build
ing the total loss amounted tc
about $450.
