not seem to be affected by the

many people are not finding it a \

buckle meet.
A. H. Merritt han a very old
American penny w hich he has '
carried as a pocket-piece for a (
number of years. The penny *
was coined in 1810 and is, there- i
fore, 100 years old. It is almost
as large as the present-day silver j
half dollar and is in good state \ <
of preservation. The penny was , [
plowed up in a cotton field by 1 ,
Mr. Merritt several years ago. 1

New Fixtures for Savings Bank.
At a recent meeting- of the directors
of the Savings Bank of
Fort Mill the cashier, W. B. j
Meacham, was authorized to
spend several hundred dollars in !
the purchase of new furniture j
and fixtures for the bank and in
otherwise improving the interior
of the banking rooms. The con- |
tract for the furniture and fixtures
probably will be awarded a
Charlotte contractor and it is ex

weeks. The Saving bank is one
of Fort Mill's most valued institutions
and the patrons of the
bank will be pleased to note this
evidence of its prosperity.
