Bailes and daughters, Misses Rosa, Mattie and Sadie, are in Washington attending the International Sunday School convention. Dr. D. F. Rodgers, of Lake City, Williamsburg county, was a visitor to Fort Mill Friday. It is said that Dr. Rodgers is thinking of locating here. Mrs. Augusta Culp had the misfortune to break a bone in her left arm a few days ago by falling from the well curbing at her home on Confederate street. B. H. Massey was a visitor at the home of his father, L. J. Massey, Tuesday. Mr. Massej is connected with the Southerr Power company. His headquarters are in Salisbury, N. C. The three census enumerators for Fort Mill township have finished their work and have made the necessary returns tc the census supervisor of this congressional district. It probably will be several months before the enumeration and othei data are made public. P. H. Stallings is selling oul his dry goods business prepara ujry to moving to uoiumDia. Mr. Stallings has been in business ir Fort Mill since the first oi January. He has made many friends in this community whc regret to learn that he is about to leave. Mayor L. A. Harris has arranged with C. P. Blankenship, Fort Mill township road supervisor, to superintend the work on the streets which is to be done within a short time. The township machinery will be used in the work and better results are expected than from the former system. Miss Annie Russell, daughtei >0 of E. W. Russell, teller of th< Savings bank, was the winnei of the medal at the public recita of Miss Annie Link's mush classes in the town hall Friday evening. The medal wa: awarded Miss Russell as the pupi evidencing the greatest improve ment in her studies during th< last session. R. P. Harris and B. C. Several carloads of poplar saw logs have been cut by Mr. J. W Ardrey from the woods in th rear of his home during the las week and are at the depot read; for shipment to a Charlotte lum ber concern. The logs are o unusual size and the selling pric of them is treble the amount lik timber would have brought ; few years ago. The closing exercises of th Fort Mill graded school are t be held in the town hall thi morning at 10 o'clock and thi evening at 8 o'clock.
