C. S. Link returned to his home
in Fort Mill Friday, after spending
several months as a patient
at hospitals in Chester and
Columbia. Mr. Link's friends
will be pleased to learn that his
health is restored.
The little sons of Mr. and Mrs.
E. W. Kimbrell and the little I
daughters of Mr. and Mrs. A. L.
Parks entertained a number of
their playmrtes at an Easter egg I
hunt at the home of their parents
Friday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Willis Elliott, of
Charlotte, Prof. B. C. Elliott, of 1
Salisburv. N. C and Hnrvov
Elliott, of Griffiths, N. C., were
guests of Dr. and Mrs. J. B.
Elliott Sunday. Professor Elliott
is principal of the Salisbury
graded schools.
J. R. Gattis and Miss Lena
Boiles, of Pineville, N. C.. were
married by Magistrate McElhaney
Sunday morning. The
ceremony occurred at the magistrate's
home and was witnessed
by A. H. Derry and Gazley
Broom.
Fort Mill is to lose a number
of excellent people about the 15th
of April in the removal of Mr.
C. H. Branson and family to
Montreat, N. C., where Mr.
Branson has real estate interests
to which he will devote his attention
during the summer. Mr.
Branson is undecided whether he
will sell his home on Booth street.
Chas. Jones, a former resident
of Fort Mill, who, some years
ago held a position with one of
the local cotton mills and is a
brother-in-law of I). O. Potts, is
the co-inventor of a vending machine
for the sale of soft drinks.
The machine is a nickle-in-tbeslot
contrivance which does not ;
require the attendance of any
one to he operated.

the phenomenon is an omen of

with Halh y's comet, now rapidly
approaching the earth. The

eye in about two weeks.
The Rev. W. A. Hafner filled
an engagement to preach for the
congregation of Six-M le Presbyterian
church Sunday after- j
noon. Six-Mile church is nine
miles south of Fort Mill, in
Lancaster county. The church
is without a pastor at present and
has requested Mr. llafner to.
preach to the congregation every
fourth Sunday afternoon in the j
month. Mr. Hafner probably
will comply with the request.
Three new automobiles have;
been purchased by citizens of
Fort Mill during the last week:
Dr. T. S. Kirkpatrick is the j
owner of a Buick, Dr. J. L. j
Spratt a Maxwell and C. H.
Branson a Maxwell. There are
about a dozen automobiles in
Fort Mill now and the owners
find a source of recreation and
pleasure in drives over the
country roads, which are in unusually
good condition for this |
season of the year.
No special Easter services were
held in any of the Fort Mill
churches Sunday, though a ser- j
mon upon the resurrection of
Christ was delivered in the
Methodist church by the pastor,
the Rev. Mr. White, Sunday
evening. No reference was
made in either the Presbyterian
or Baptist church to the great
church day of the Catholics.
Episcopalians and Lutherans, the
doctrine of both the former
churches being that one Sabbath
is as much Easter as another
and that Christians should observe
every Sabbath in a spirit
commemorative of the resurrection
of Christ.
Some people think that a town
the size of Fort Mill, with annual
tax receipts of nearly $4,000,
should not have to depend upon
the enterprise of its good women
to keep the city cemetery in
proper condition, but however
that may be, the care which the
cemetery in Fort Mill receives is
due largely to the efforts of the
Civic league. These good women
are about to begin their annual
canvass for funds for this purpose
and within the next week
several committees will be appointed
by the president of the
league, Mrs. Sue Spratt. It i3
hoped that the assistance they
seek will be readily and cheerfully
given. i
Sensation in Church.
A pretty girl wearing a pretty
hat created quite a sensation
in church Easter Sunday. When
she walked down the aisle every
woman's eyes were on her hat.
One lady was heard to say that
the hat must have cost at least
$20, and wondered how the young
lady could afford to buy such a
beautiful hat. Another lady said
the wearer of the hat ought to
be prosecuted for disturbing a
religious meeting. But when
the young lady came out of
church she showed a receipted
bill showing that the hat co^t
only $2.90 at Massey's. They
are now wondering how Massey
can sell such beautiful hats at
such low prices. There is no
secret about it. Call at Massey's
and see the beautiful Millinery
and ask him how he can sell
three hats for the price of one.
