to TIMES READERS.
Miss Dora Grier is visiting1
relatives in Charlotte.
Mrs. J. M. Gamble is a patient
at a hospital in Gastonia.
B. L. Merritt has bought a lot
on Ardrey hill and will at once
erect thereon a residence for himself
and family.
L. A. Harris has acquired by
purchase the residence of W. E.
Whitesell, near the plant of the
'Fort Mill Mfer. Co. The r>ror>ertv
changed hands one day last
week.
The rise in the Catawba river
which was expected from the
heavy rains of last week did not
materialize that is, the water
was not more than a foot or two
above the normal stage.
The Southern railway has a
force of workmen engaged in repairing
the water tank a hundred
yards north of the freight
depot. This tank was poorly
constructed and has never given
satisfaction.
W. S. McFadden, a valued em
ploye of the Charlotte Brick C .,
at Grattan, was married a few
days ago to Miss Annabel Lock,
of Rodman, Chester county. The
ceremony was performed at the
home of the Rev. Mr. Lummus,
in Rodman, in the presence of a
few friends and relatives. Mr.
and Mrs. McFadden are living at
Grattan.
W. J. Stewart is the owner of
probably the finest pair of mules
ever seen in this section, which
he secured in a trade with
n Mill Gfrr?r?lr \Tnnrlr>v
The mules weigh 2,950 pounds
and are to be used by Mr. Stewart
on his farm south of town.
They are valued at $1,000?a
valuation not heretofore equaled
or exceeded on a pair of work
animals brought to this section.
The mules were shipped here
from Illinois.
Plans were made Tuesday at
a meeting of a number of ladies
of the city for the organization
of a mothers' club, whose purpose
will be to cooperate with
the teachers of the graded school
in promoting the interests of the
school. The first meeting of the
club will be held in the school
building on the afternoon of
April 12 and it is hoped the
meeting will be attended by
every mother who has a boy or
girl in the school.

You have heard of the fellow who built his house
on the sand, and the one that built on a rock. f f
The sand applies to fences. A koo-I iron fence
will last a hundred years or more and costs very
little more than a wood fence that will last only *">
about tcii years. Besides the iron fence im
proves the looks of your property and makes it
more valuable. We sell Stewart's Iron Fence
which is the best on the market. You will be
surprised to know how low the prices arc. Call ft
