amount has already been pledged ,
and development is expected to 1

The Clawson gold mining properry
is located in Gold Hill neighbornood,
this township, about 4 I
miles north of Fort Mill. The
mines were cpened years ago and
worked for a short time, but for
a lack of the necessary equipment
and capital the work was
profitless and the mines were
soon abandoned. The present ,
preliminary work was begun last
November and the ore taken out

the owners that a handsome
profit will be realized with
the full development of the mines.

Will Not Unite With Ebenezer.
Contrary to the expectations
3f the public in general, the
Fort Mill Presbyterian church
will not unite with Ebenezer
church in the employing of a
pastor to succeed the lamented
Dr. James H. Thornwell. This
aecision was reacnea Sunday at
a congregational meeting of the
Presbyterians and the decision
was almost unanimous.
This action on the part of the
local church must not be taken
as an indication of friction between
the churches for such is
not the case. The Fort Mill and
Ebenezer churches have worked
in unison for many years and
there was never an unpleasant
feeling between them. The decision
of the Fort Mill church
to sever relations with Ebenezer
was done solely for the reason
that the congregation here realize
the Inconvenience to which the
pastor is put in attending both
churches and also that the local
church demands the regular attendance
of a pastor.
At a meeting Sunday a committee,
the duty of which is to
look out for a pastor, was appointed
consisting of the following
gentlemen: J. M. Spratt,
chairman: R. F. Grier, E. W.
Kimbrell, W. R. Carothers, J. W.
Ardrey, L. J. Massey. This
committee will meet during the
week and map out a plan of
procedure.
